Spurgeons Children’s Charity

Project:
Additional Specialist Resource

The issue:
To continue to provide services to vulnerable groups the work of charities often includes a fundraising element. With the ever fast changing and challenging environment for charities it’s imperative to find new and innovative ways to sustain.

The Brief:

Spurgeons Children’s Charity is one of the UK’s leading children’s charities, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families for 150 years. Siskin were approached to work with the in-house fundraising team, providing specialist additional resource around strategy, planning and innovation for upcoming events.

Our Approach:

Siskin worked closely with the fundraising team, building on existing knowledge and skills and bringing innovative ideas and thinking. We provided a range of expertise and on the ground support, which included:

  • Project planning/management tools
  • Public Relations
  • Social media content plans including blogs
  • Stakeholder analysis and reputation management
  • Event planning
  • Development of key messages and advertising copy
  • Learning workshops

And as a result:

Siskin informed the creation and supported the planning, management and delivery of Spurgeons’ first ever charity boat race, which was a great success. The charity event saw over 100 people participate, raising much needed funds for the charity and raising its profile, with significantly increased activity across social media platforms and the highest traffic seen on the charity website to date.

The event also built new relationships with local businesses, high-profile sports clubs, attracted new volunteers and created excitement internally fostering a ‘together we can’ environment. The event is now set to become an annual event for the charity.

What the client said:

“Working with Siskin made a positive difference to our first ever challenge event. Siskin works in a direct, well planned, focussed way – looking at the detail as well as the bigger picture.

I found Siskin’s approach to be very professional and also flexible working to our needs. I quickly felt Siskin was an integral part of the team and not an ‘add on’ to it, always going above and beyond our expectations.

With Siskin’s support we delivered an excellent first ever ‘Splash and Dash’ event, raising an substantial amount of money for the charity.

I genuinely hope that we work together in the future and would wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Siskin to your organisation.”
