Dementia Carers – Special Memory Service

The issue:

Dementia is predominantly a disorder of later life. Milton Keynes expects to have a continued and significant rise in the number of people presenting with dementia over the coming years. This will also mean an associated continued increase in the number of individuals caring for someone with dementia. Uptake of the existing carers support group has been low and the service was keen to raise its profile.

The Brief:

Siskin was approached to work directly with the Special Memory Service, to co-create an engaging short video to promote the service.

Our Approach:

Siskin worked directly with the staff and individuals living with dementia, their family and carers. Siskin created a short emotive video, showcasing personal stories with open and honest interviews with those who have accessed the carers support group.

The video highlights the free service available and the positive impact the carers support group had for those caring with loved ones with dementia.

And as a result:

The video has been used across several platforms to promote the service. The video has also been shared at a number of conferences to demonstrate the continued need to offer support to carers and the positive influence of carers support groups and networks.

What the client said:

“The short video Siskin created for us is fantastic. It’s emotional but delivers the message we wanted. Siskin’s professionalism and efficiency was superb, it was a great pleasure to work with all the team involved.”
